Average petrol prices have reached a new record high of £1.74 a liter and diesel reached £1.81 for the first time in the UK, according to data from Experian Catalist. This time last year, petrol was £1.29 a liter, with diesel at £1.30 a liter.
RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams calls it “another unfortunate landmark”.
Not only fuel but all the commodities and household bills have almost doubled due to inflation rate in the UK. This has triggered an increasing number of people to switch to electric cars, specially PCO drivers. PCO drivers in London have already started to switch to electric cars and they have already gained significant benefits.
Electric car drivers are exempted from paying congestion charge (£15 per day). If you are a PCO driver who goes to congestion charge zone 5 days a week, you can save £75 just by not paying the congestion charge fee.
Moreover, PCO drivers who are driving an electric car are eligible to do Uber Green jobs. Uber only charges %15 commission for Uber Green jobs, which ultimately boosts PCO drivers’ weekly earnings. PCO drivers will also be able to do Uber Comfort jobs. The payment for Uber Comfort jobs is higher than UberX jobs. This will also help PCO drivers to earn more money.
PCO drivers can save substantial amount of money from expensive fuel costs. It usually costs £12-£15 to fully charge the electric vehicles at home and £25-£28 to fully charge the car in city charging points. Overall PCO drivers can save about £30-£50 from excessive fuel prices.
