G&M Direct Hire regularly services its vehicles in order to maintain and improve the quality of our vehicles. This guide intends to explain when you can service your car and how you can make a service appointment.

What is a car service?

A car service is a health check with routine maintenance for your vehicle that assesses everything from your engine’s fluid levels to your car’s general wear and tear. Servicing its vehicle is crucial to efficiency and longevity, so getting it serviced at the right time is paramount.

A well-maintained car is less likely to break down because of a common fault, and if a fault does occur and is caught earlier on, it is often cheaper to fix. A well-maintained car is also likely to have a higher resale value and a longer life. In addition to that, it will reduce the burden on the engine and provide you with improved mpg.

What is included in a car service?

What’s included in the car service depends on the garage and the type of service. It could be an interim service or a full service (or a minor or major service).

All the services involve visual checks, such as inspecting the body or wheels of the car for any damages, and manual checks, such as checking your brakes and gearbox to make sure it is working as it should. Checks during a car service can include:

  • Engine oil and oil filter
  • Lights, tyres, bodywork, and exhausts
  • Brakes and steering
  • Fluid and coolant levels
  • Suspension
  • Car battery
  • If you have an electric or hybrid car, the checks will also include your charging port, cables, and connections.

How often should the car be serviced?
