Besides, no matter which engine you opt for the, the car is fuel-efficient and delivers quick acceleration. It comes with sedan and hatchback and in both models and there is good head and leg room for car occupants. If you are an Uber driver, The Honda Civic may be a good choice for PCO car rental.
Let’s review some of the most important features of this car.
- Engine options
- Interior design
- Exterior design
- Car safety
- Automated Emergency Braking
Two engine options are provided by Honda Corporation to customers supporting quality engine performance and fuel efficiency: 2.0L 4-cylinder engine and 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine.
2.0L 4-Cylinder Engine
The car base engine is 2.0L 4-cylinder. It is available on both Sport and LX trims of Honda Civic generating 158 horsepower. The Honda Civic equipped with the 2.0L engine offers fuel economy of 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on freeway.
1.5L Turbo 4-Cylinder Engine
A 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine is another option available on the Honda Civic. This turbo engine is installed in EX, EX-L, and touring trims of Honda Civic producing 174 horsepower. This engine offers EPA-estimated fuel economy of 32 mpg when driving in the city and 42 mpg when you are on freeways.
Recently Honda Corporation has introduced the brand’s new theme which is called “simplicity and something”. To explain it more they say it means the company is going to produce cars whose cabins are more human-centric and less cluttered.
In order to improve the driving experience in Honda Civic, designers have decided to eliminate the complexity of the vehicle’s cabin. For instance, by minimizing mechanical components size, more room would be available for driver and passengers. Besides, we expect that the cabins of next generation vehicles manufactured by Honda have less interior clutter.
The new cabin design combines a cleaner, less cluttered look with a floating touchscreen on the dashboard which is integrated into the center console.
There are 4 main elements to the new Honda interior design listed below:
- It starts with a physical volume knob
- Large icons on the screen. They are easy to recognize and operate
- A fast microprocessor minimizing lag time
- A navigation menu with fewer levels for a driver
The Honda Civic sedan model has a trunk space of 428 liters that is great. The hatchback model has more cargo space which can be extended to 1308 liters when the rear seats are folded down.
Number of car occupants
In Honda Civic, up to five passengers can comfortably ride in with plenty of legroom and headroom. The seats both front and back, are comfortable, supportive and well-cushioned offering good outward visibility. Thanks to vehicle’s large door openings, motorist and passengers can easily and quickly get into the car.
Car crashes may result in injury and death for kids and using child seats to protect the children in car is essential. Not only do child seats add comfort for kids, but peace of mind for their parents that children are as safe as possible when they are driving.
Two sets of LATCH connectors for the rear seats are available receiving the second-highest rating from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for its ease of use.
The Honda Civic comes with a simple in-car entertainment but bad news is that it is a bit difficult to use when you are driving. Hopefully, smartphone integration via Apple Car Play and Android Auto is supported.
The car comes standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen display but 9.0-inch and 10.2-inch screens are optional. In addition, options such as in-dash navigation, a Bose stereo system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad are supported with the upgraded system.
Designers have decided to move the windshield pillars bottom toward the back by approximately 1.9 inches to elongate the car’s hood.
The exterior design of Honda Civic has been updated in 2022 model but a large front grille remains bearing a great resemblance to the previous generations. The bolder lines have become larger and the front light clusters do not wrap around the body any longer making the hatchback appear larger.
To enhance visibility, they have moved the built-in rear mirror to the base of the rear window.
The Sedan model will come in 8 colors, three of which are new: Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl and Mist Blue Metallic.
Crash test results
The 2021 Honda Civic received a good rating for six accident safety tests. Among different trims, the Touring one achieved the highest rating and other trims received poor rating due to headlights not illuminating the road ahead well.
Based on another grading, the car received an overall safety rating of five out of five stars in both frontal and side crashes. Some of the Honda Civic safety features are as follows:
Lane departure warning
Automatic high-beam headlights
Forward collision warning
Road departure mitigation
Automatic emergency braking
Collision mitigation braking
Automated Emergency Braking
This feature is offered as standard. There are some cameras and radar installed forward warning the driver of an imminent forward collision. The Automated Emergency Braking stops the car on behalf of the driver if no action is taken. Even though automated emergency braking could be very helpful, crash-test results show that on some vehicles, they don’t always brake hard and early enough to avoid the accident and you should not rely on such features.
However, IIHS gives Honda Civic rating of superior in front crash prevention that is great.
If you are looking for a sporty compact car as a PCO rental car, Honda Civic could be a very good choice. Powerful engine choices, good handling and smooth riding, being fuel-efficient, having lots of space for passengers and cargos are some of the advantages of this amazing car. But in-car entertainment is very simple and not easy-to-use while driving.
